Enlisted in the Australian Regular Army at Marrickville, New South Wales on 23 August 1950 and allotted Army number 2/3994. He stated on enlistment that:
he was born at Kempsey, New South Wales,
his next of kin was his Father, Mr Francis John Fuller of Trevallyn Post Office via Patterson, New South Wales, and
he later changed his next of kin to his Wife, Mrs Merle Fuller of Morton Road, Burwood Victoria on 29 October 1955

1st Australian Recruit Training Centre
1st Australian Armoured Regiment
4th Royal Australian Regiment

Embarked at Sydney, New South Wales for service overseas with the 3rd Royal Australian Regiment per 'NEW AUSTRALIA' on 20 March 1954

​

Served in Japan and Korea from 20 March 1954 to 20 June 1955 with the following units:
1st Battalion Royal Australian Regiment
3rd Battalion Royal Australian Regiment

Disembarked in Sydney, New South Wales from Japan on 20 June 1955
